Sam Worthington (Avatar and Terminator Salvation) stars as Perseus as he braves the treacherous underworld to rescue his father, Zeus, captured by his brother Hades who unleashes the ancient Titans upon the world. Also staring Liam Neeson (The Grey and Batman Begins) as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes (The Constant Gardener and Schindler’s List) as Hades and also staring Edgar Ramirez, Toby Kebbell, Rosamund Pike and Bill Nighy. This is the sequel to the 2010 film Clash of the Titans which also included Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes.
The cast is pretty good, a few big names in there and I am a fan of Sam Worthington, I think he is one of the better actors out there at the moment. The effects throughout the movie are really good, in some lesser films you can see where the effects have been put in but this movie flows well. Some of the Titans and Cyclopes ( Yes there are Cyclopes in this movie, just like the good old days of watching old Sinbad movies) look really good on screen, which helps with the flow and in making the movie Believable. It was also nice to meet some new characters like Ares, Poseiden, Agenor and Andromeda and see how their paths all meet and theæhistory between them, but they only touch on this a little, I believe more is needed to get a better understanding of the story.
But to be honest the movie itself wasn’t very good, the story itself was poor I thought. Never really got me engaged and grabbed my full attention. I liked Clash of the Titans, I thought that was a decent movie. I wouldn’t really recommend watching this, i would prefer to watch the old Fantasy Adventure movie such as the original Jason and the Argonauts (1963) or the old Sinbad movies such as The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958), The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973). Yes I know these movies are old and yes maybe a bit cheesy but i think more enjoyable and entertaining to watch.
So, watch this if you have nothing else to plow through or if your a big Fantasy Adventure. If not maybe give it a miss and go for a classic!
